6 wooden buttons (¾” or 1″ diameter)

Stitch Patterns Used:
1×1 Rib:
K1, P1 across.
Bobble Stitch (worked on RS rows):
(K1, P1, K1, P1, K1) in the same stitch, turn, P5, turn, K5, turn, P2tog, P1, P2tog, turn, K3tog
This creates a “pop” effect. On WS rows, purl across unless otherwise stated.
Gauge:

18 sts and 24 rows = 4″ in stockinette on US 8 needles
CARDIGAN PATTERN
Back:

Using Color A and US 7 needles, CO 54 sts.

Work 1×1 rib for 1.5” (about 8 rows).

Switch to US 8 needles and begin bobble pattern:

Begin with Color A for 3.5”

Switch to Color B and continue bobbles for 3”

Switch to Color C and continue bobbles for 2.5” (total body ~9”)

Bobble placement: Stagger them every 4 rows, every 4th stitch

Shape shoulders:

BO 6 sts at start of next 2 rows
-
BO 6 sts at start of next 2 rows again (total 4 rows of shaping)

BO remaining center 30 sts for neckline

Fronts (Make 2):

CO 28 sts with Color A using US 7 needles.

Work ribbing for 1.5”.

Switch to US 8 needles and follow color changes and bobble stitch as for the back.

At 7.5” height, begin neckline shaping:

BO 4 sts at neck edge once

Decrease 1 st at neck edge every RS row 3x

At 9” height, BO 6 sts at shoulder, 2x as for back.
Sleeves (Make 2):

CO 28 sts with Color A on US 7 needles.

Rib for 1.5”.

Switch to US 8 needles and increase 1 st each side every 6th row until you have 40 sts.

Work 3” in Color A with bobbles, then 2.5” in Color B, then 2” in Color C (total ~7.5”).

BO all sts.
Assembly:

Block all pieces.

Sew shoulders.

Attach sleeves, then sew sleeve seams and side seams.

Pick up stitches along each front edge and neckline with Color C.

Knit 1×1 rib band for 1”:

On the right front band, work 6 buttonholes evenly spaced (YO, K2tog).

Bind off loosely and sew on buttons.
HAT PATTERN
Brim:

With Color A and US 7 needles, CO 64 sts.

Join to work in the round. Work 1×1 rib for 1.5”.
Body:

Switch to US 8 needles.

Work bobbles and color changes:

2” in Color A

2” in Color B
-
2” in Color C
-
Place bobbles every 4 sts, every 4th round

Begin crown shaping:

Round 1: K6, K2tog repeat

Round 2: K

Round 3: K5, K2tog

Continue decreasing every other round until ~8 sts remain.

Cut yarn, pull through remaining sts, and secure.
Finishing:

Make a pom-pom using all three colors and attach it securely to the top of the hat.
